| At Ascend Credit Services we pride ourselves in providing a valuable service at a reasonable price. Unfortunately, not all "Credit Repair" companies have the same philosophy. Here is a list of items to beware of when shopping for a person or company to trust your hard earned money with. We have had way too many people come through our doors showing invoices from other companies in the multiple of THOUSANDS of dollars, and when asked what they received for this money we hear "ummm, I'm not sure."
- Companies use a "one size fits all" credit repair system that doesn't cater to your individual situation. A single letter sent over and over, or a fixed number of steps, such as "a 3 step process" can not cater to your needs. To have the most successful process it must be fluid, changing based on responses received and as credit bureaus change avoidance tactics. Remember, the credit bureaus spend millions each trying to discourage you from executing your legal rights to repair your credit.
- Companies that claim to be affiliated with a law firm or have an attorney promoting their product. Most are actually not even affiliated with a licensed attorney, but even if they are, it does not take the expense of an attorney to follow a proven process that was designed by lawyers.
- Most all companies don't show you the dispute letters they are sending on your behalf. They won't even let you see them if you ask! Believe it or not, this makes the process virtually useless as the law states credit bureaus can legally ignore letters sent by a 3rd party company sent on your behalf.
- Some companies will suggest you create a new credit identity or use an EIN (Employer Identification Number) to trick the credit bureaus into starting a new credit file. It is illegal for the credit repair company to suggest this and it is fraud if you go through with it. Additionally, this technique does not work with the advancement of computers.
- Most credit repair companies refuse to tell you upfront what the total cost will be. Instead they rely on a monthly subscription rate for their "speedy" credit repair. Why would a company do anything as quickly as possible if their income is based on a monthly fee? the longer the process takes, the more money they make!
- Most companies won't offer a money back guarantee. Why wouldn't you if you're so sure of your service?
- Scam companies encourage you to make false statements or falsify your identity. If you think an account might be yours, we do not tell you to state otherwise, our process only suggests you request the bureaus Verify Information as the law allows. It is not your job to remember every debt you have had, it is the creditors job to keep records of your debt on file.
- Be careful of any company that suggests any fraudulent activity or engagement in any illegal activity.
- Companies that do not advise you of your legal rights and the laws that affect you.
- Company guarantees negative trade line removal or positive results. There are never guarantees. We only state statistics found in our database from previous results of items SIMILAR TO YOURS.
